Fish Spawning Surveys

Fish spawning surveys involve the identification of fish reproductive activity as well as the assessment of possible spawning habitat in a water body.

NEA staff are experienced conducting specialized spawning surveys for walleye, pike, muskellunge, bass, salmon and many other fish species. Spawning surveys use standard techniques and are tailored for each fish species. The survey for the targeted species is conducted during pre-determined critical spawning window. The water temperature determines the optimal conditions for spawning and is the majorĀ determinant for this critical spawning window.
